Flag Day Celebration – Mormon Battalion

FreeOn June 15 Old Town San Diego will come alive with the patriotic spirit of Flag Day as the Mormon Battalion Historic Site hosts the celebration “Honoring the Legacy of Sacrifice.” This event, free and open to the public, promises to be a memorable occasion dedicated to honoring the sacrifices made by those who have served our nation. The highlight of the evening will be a stirring performance by the Marine Band San Diego.
The Mormon Battalion Historic Site, known for its rich history and cultural significance, provides a fitting backdrop for this event. The site commemorates the Mormon Battalion, a group of 500 Latter-day Saints who enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army during the Mexican-American War, exemplifying patriotism and service.
The Flag Day Celebration aims to bring the community together in a shared appreciation of the freedoms and values represented by the American flag. The Marine Band San Diego, renowned for their exceptional musical talent and dedication, will perform a selection of patriotic music, ensuring an inspiring and emotional experience for all attendees.
The event, starting at 5:00pm, will feature a series of activities and ceremonies designed to engage and educate the audience about the significance of Flag Day and the history of the Mormon Battalion.
