Old Town Set to Host Monumental Gathering for Antonio Garra Day 2024

The Pala Band of Mission Indians and the First San Diego Courthouse Museum are thrilled to announce the upcoming celebration of Antonio Garra Day on Saturday, March 16 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This momentous event promises to be one of the largest gatherings of Southern California Native American groups to honor the life and enduring legacy of the Native American patriot, Antonio Garra.

Antonio Garra, a revered leader in the fight for the rights and sovereignty of Southern California and Northern Baja tribes, left a lasting impact through his bravery and advocacy. Despite his wrongful execution in 1852, Garra’s spirit and dedication to his people’s cause continue to inspire generations. This special event aims to commemorate his contributions and celebrate the ongoing resilience and rich cultural heritage of California Indian communities.
